Transition Rules for FCSI® Students

  1. I am currently working towards the original FCSI and understand that CSI has modified the requirements to be granted the FCSI. What are these changes and how will they affect me?
    Effective September 21, 2011, designation holders working towards their FCSI will be given until December 31, 2011 to complete the FCSI under the original education path and work experience requirements as follows:

    Note 1: Course Requirements for Original FCSI

    • Designation
      CSWP or CIM or DMS or FMA or MTI or PFP or FICB.

    • Licensing Course*
      If 2 or more of the licensing courses (BMC, CPH or PDO) have been successfully completed, only 1 may be used as the additional course.?

    • Additional CSI Course (Specify)
      If you chose the DMS designation, your additional course must be the CSC if you haven't taken it already.

    • Ethics Module
      Case study or seminar.

    *CSI will accept Professional Banking courses (for those who have previously completed them or are currently in a cohort), but they are no longer offered publicly.

    Effective September 21, 2011, all FCSIs will attest to the new FCSI Code of Ethics, Industry Contribution Requirement and Trademark Licence Fee. The continuing education requirement has been replaced with the industry contribution requirement.

    Effective January 1, 2012, students who were not able to complete the original path will automatically be transferred to the new FCSI path and requirements. For more information on the new FCSI, please visit www.fcsi.ca and click on the Financial Professionals section.
